![]() I could bear with fights being occasional, and not well drawn. Plus, it lays more impact on fights, which from the very beginning were drawn poorly, if we compare them to shows like Trigun, Bebop or Gunsmith Cats. GunGrave's shift in realities is far more disturbing, happens to early, and is badly directed. And in all that, Berserk remains more truthful to his original genre, thus becoming a greater show. First episode being NOT first chronologically is yet another common ground. The shift in the story near the end also is similar. Harry and Brandon interaction reminded me a lot of a bond that Griffith and Guts shared. I lay it on me recently watching Berserk (which is far superior to GunGrave IMO). In many ways GunGrave reminds me of Berserk. It serves as 'nagging something that proves to be right' through whole 15 episodes.Ĭharacters, while changed, aren't changed drastically, or (luckily) unbelievably. Yet at the same time it changes what it told You earlier.įirst episode pretty much shows what will ruin the thing. ![]() To my actual surprise, the story holds its grounds and fits together. Not that the story collapses after the shift. This turn is huge, and it is in the wrong direction. Indestructible, immortal and whatnot people suddenly roam the city, where earlier one bullet could send anyone to the graveyard. ![]() Instead of people who carefully planned, and later acted, we have now 'almighty Superiors' who do not have to plan, because they are unbeatable. Instead of powerful organization we have supernatural forces. Later story turns itself on its ear, and it degrades steadily with each passing minute. That is why I hoped, and that is where You should tell Yourself that it's too good to be true. Those who were dissatisfied with its results (Lee or Bear's lifelong friend), those who stopped at some point (Bear Walken himself, Randy), and those who never attempted to do it (Gary and his boss). Those who earlier did the climbing, and our heroes, who were doing it right now. It also tells a story of climbing up the ladder, viewed (which for me was particularly pleasant) from different viewpoints. How they cope with brutal reality, how they make up for the fact, that one mistake, one broken rule or law means death to them, and often to their families as well. Right up to episode 16, GunGrave tells You a story about Mafia and Mafiosi's live. ![]() Have You ever experienced the truthfulness of the proverbs "Hope is stupid man's mother" or "It's too beautiful to be true"? Have You ever been in a situation, where everything seems to be going great but something keeps nagging You, and then this something proves to be right? Have You ever picked up something shiny thinking it may be valuable and later were dissatisfied with it? ![]()
